About Ilse Sand

For many years Ilse Sand has been engaged in counseling highly sensitive people both as a pastor and as a psychotherapist. Ilse Sand has written another four self-help books. One about love and self-protection, another is a practical guide in how to use specifically selected, simple psychotherapeutic methods in supportive dialogues, one is about how to think better about your feelings and one about highly sensitive people and introverts.

Before she became a psychotherapist, public speaker and author, Ilse worked as parish pastor under the Danish National Church for eleven years until 2006.

IlseHavestol LilleoplIlse Sand has a Master’s Degree in Theology from Aarhus University, where her Master’s thesis was based on the works of Swiss Psychiatrist C.G. Jung and Danish Philosopher Søren Kierkegaard. The works of Jung and Kierkegaard has had an impact on both her personal life as well as her professional life and writing.

Through her work as a pastor, Ilse Sand became interested in helping people on a deeper level, and she became educated in psychotherapy within Gestalt Therapy, Cognitive Therapy and Psycho Dynamic Therapy among others.

In 2006 she started her own practice in Jutland. She has since then been working with psychotherapy, supervision, courses, lectures and counseling highly sensitive people.
Ilse Sand also offers courses in psychotherapy.

Ilse’s parents divorced when she was a child, and this led her to start seeing a therapist as a young woman in order to work on herself and her feelings. It was in therapy she realized, how talking about feelings on a deeper level can transform one’s way of experiencing the world, reduce shameful feeling and result in a happier life.

The help Ilse received through therapy gave her a greater understanding of psychology, and has given her an ability to put it into words that is easy to read and understand.
